Treatment
All clients are provided a full diagnostic evaluation. Following evaluation the therapist and client will work together to decide upon a treatment which best suits the needs of the client.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is based upon the connection between one's thoughts (cognitions) and feelings and the resulting actions (behaviors). The underlying idea is that one's feelings are directly determined by one's thoughts. Change the way you are thinking (cognitions) about a situation and you have the ability to change the way you are feeling about it. This in turn can change how you respond (behavior) in a given situation.
A(situation)----B(thought)----C(feeling)----D(response/behavior)
For many anxiety disorders, exposure to the feared situation or object is helpful in reducing the physical and emotional distress which the client experiences. However you will always be an active participant in your treatment and it will be your decision whether to take part in exercises related to recovery.
